With a sound somewhere between Eels and Lemon Jelly, bedroom based, one-man pop act Plastic Fuzz have raised the DIY benchmark further still with their latest EP. With a humorous, spun-out, psychedelic vibe, this music is great fun to listen to, and I imagine even more fun to create!

The EP begins with the tribal sounding vocals of I Hide From Arkwright before cheeky Spanish guitar, percussion and what sounds like digery doo kick in. Track two, April 4th is my standout, starting with electronic drums progressively building up to the point where you might even expect a full dance beat to drop. Instead, you are surprised by another cheeky lead guitar riff, reminiscent of Last stop this town by Eels. This tune has spooky, surreal, lyrics for example I have caught a nasty bug, I am milk and jug and stuff over a really sweet sounding, almost nursery rhyme style vocal melody. The song is capped of with an awesome synthed guitar solo that'd lift the spirit on the worst of days.

Plastic Fuzz create feel good, fun music that collides genres & instruments at dangerous speeds. Anybody with an open mind towards music would be daft not to check these guys out!
