Rotary Ten are a four piece guitar band, originally from Lincolnshire but now based in
Sheffield. Having played together in various forms for three years, the band came
together in the Summer of 2003 with a new name and a fresh approach to making music.
With two of the band attending Uni in SHeffield, it was logical to take the Steel City as a
starting point from which to launch a snoic assault on an increasingly homogenized music
industry. Their sound can be described as a blend of atmospheric guitars, pulsating
rhythms and melodic groove-like bass-lines, serving as a backdrop to a voice which has
genuine presence and character. At the heart of this is a desire to escape the humdrum
nature of their rural upbringing to experienc elife and let their sound evolve. The band
have honed their live set into a tight and emotionally intense collection of songs, and have
drawn favourable comparisons to Radiohead, The Smiths, and early REM. The tail end of last year
saw them performing in Manchester, Sheffield and Essex, along with a rapturously received
Lincoln show supporting British Sea Power.
